This page describes the particulars of our Sunday Service. For explanations of why we practice these forms of worship, please visit the Our Worship page.
Our typical Sunday Service order of worship includes the following:
- Prelude and Preparation
Instrumental music begins, singaling the time for our members and visitors to be seated and prepare their hearts for the service.
- Hymn of the Month
Our monthly hymn is sung each Sunday of the month, aiding in memorization and meditation on the truths contained within it.
- Call to Worship
Typically a psalm, calling God's people to praise God for his sovereignty and wonderful grace and mercy.
- Invocation and the Lord's Prayer
An invocational prayer followed by recitation of the prayer taught to us by the Son of God himself.
- Gloria Patri: Glory be to the Father
The first of two songs sung every Sunday to remind us why we are gathered.
- Praise and Prayer Requests
Any church announcements, praises, prayer requests, etc. are given at this time.
- Pastoral Prayer
The pastor, elder, or visiting pulpit supply prays for the people of our church.
- Responsive Reading
Led by the pastor, elder, or visiting pulpit supply, a psalm is read responsively. Alternatively, a doctrinal topic is explained from the Westminster Shorter Catechism with Scripture references.
- Psalter or Hymnal Singing
- Scripture Reading
Typically, one of the elders reads the passage of scripture to be exposited during the sermon.
- Sermon
Our preaching is expository, which is a form of preaching that expounds upon the meaning of a particular text or passage of Scripture. Our preachers are qualified through their balanced study of the two testaments in the original languages, complemented by an intensive study of systematic theology, church history, and homiletics. Through the working of the Holy Spirit, God's grace is administered by thoroughly explaining the Scriptures and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Hymn
- Benediction
- Doxology: Praise God
The second of two songs sung every Sunday, ending the service by praising God, from whom all blessings flow.
